GLENNIE ADAMS graduated from Kamehameha Schools Kapalama in 1978 as an outstanding four-sport athlete, lettering in Track, Volleyball, Softball and Basketball. At the collegiate level, Adams had a stellar career at the University of Hawai`i-Hilo, where she was part of two national championship teams (1979 & 1982) and in the process was named an NAIA All-American (1979). After graduation, Adams started coaching high school softball and volleyball, most notably at University Laboratory School – leading the Junior Bow Girls’ volleyball teams to three State Championships. In 1994, Chaminade University selected Adams to lead the Women’s Volleyball Program, and just two years into the job, the Silverswords captured their first and only Pacific West Conference Title to date in 1996, followed by the University’s first-ever bid to the NCAA West Regional Tournament in 2002 and again in 2004. Her success on the court as Chaminade’s winningest head coach (179 wins), also served her well in an administrative capacity, as she took on the roles of Assistant Director of Athletics and Senior Women’s Administrator. After 15 years at Chaminade, all of her experiences would come full circle when Adams was selected as the Associate Director of Athletics at Kamehameha Schools Kapalama in 2009. In 2011, she was promoted and became the first female Director of Athletics in school history, overseeing one of the largest high school athletic programs in the country.
