2012 – Jim Leahey

THE LATE JIM LEAHEY graduated from Saint Louis School and attended Chaminade University in the early 1960s, where he met his wife of 45 years, Antoinette Vaspra ’65.  After earning a degree from the University of San Francisco, Leahey served in Vietnam and returned to Hawaii to teach at Campbell High School for ten years.  As the son of sports broadcasting legend Chuck Leahey, Jim’s true passion eventually led him into the media industry.  He worked at KITV and KGMB before spending decades on television and radio as the play-by-play voice for countless games to the local community.  With Jim’s son Kanoa, also following in his footsteps, the Leahey family now boasts three generations of sports broadcasters.

Leahey passed away in January 2023.
